Mini-Skirt Maker - Stage Five
At this stage of your sewing, your child should feel confident using a sewing machine, be able to use scissors with some accuracy and have made basic items such as bag or cushion. They should also be able to stay focused on a sewing task for several hours.
The perfect introduction to dressmaking - recommended age 9+.
Pattern and fabric are included in the price
Children will get to choose from a selection of handpicked gorgeous cotton. They will learn how to use a tape measure to take body measurements as well as being taught basic dressmaking terminology. They will learn to recognise basic pattern symbols whilst constructing a circular elasticated skirt (skater skirt) using a commercial pattern.
Learn how to:
- Choose the right fabric
- Use a tape measure to take body measurements
- Read a pattern
- Pin the pattern on their fabric correctly
- Cut out
- Use notches
- Sew seams
- Add a yoke
- Sew an elasticated waistband
- Neaten edges
Please bring a Pack lunch (Do not pack anything with nuts just in case anyone has a nut allergy).
Workshop length 4.5hrs .
Drinks and biscuits will be supplied.
Due to the nature of the workshops and the limited availability of places if you wish to cancel a workshop you must cancel the workshop within seven (7) days of booking your place and at least seven (7) days in advance of the Workshop. We will either refund or transfer you on to the next available Workshop.
If fewer than 2 people book on this workshop it may be cancelled. If this happens you will be offered a full refund or a place on the next available workshop.
