Beginners' Dressmaking Skills
A one-day workshop teaching the basic terminology and techniques of dressmaking.
To attend this workshop you should be able to use a sewing machine independently (i.e. thread a machine and sew a straight line). If you are a complete beginner you should attend Make Friends With The Sewing Machine before this workshop.
The workshop focuses on construction methods used in dressmaking:
- Taking your measurements
- Understanding symbols and dressmaking terminology
- Marking and Sewing Darts
- Sewing seams and finishing raw edges
- Invisible Zips
- Interfacings and facings
- Finishings and hems
Beginners' Workshop. 4 x 2hrs or condensed into a 1 day (6 hours) workshop. All materials supplied. Please bring a packed lunch for the day workshop!
